On Friday, March 24, 2023, SMCDSB high school students took a crack at Cricket for the first time!
After a half-day skills clinic, students played a fun round-robin tournament. It didn’t take long for competitive spirits to embrace the game! The event at Bradford Sports Dome lines up with the Board’s focus on inclusion and diversity. It was also a fun way to introduce a new sport! One student with a connection to Cricket was happy to see excitement for a game not widely played in Canada.
Participants will go on to share what they’ve learned with their feeder elementary schools, creating more opportunities for students of all ages to learn the sport and grow the game locally.
