Congratulations to Lukas Piechocinski and Shaelyn Santo from St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School, for receiving Catholic School Athletics of Simcoe County Student-Athlete of the Month honours for April 2023! Here is what our teacher-coach nominators had to say about this month’s recipients:
“Lukas is a Grade 10 student at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School. He is a leader on the Boys Volleyball team, Hockey team and Badminton team. He is extremely coachable with a great attitude. Lukas is always striving to get better and is often working independently to improve his athletic skills. With a dominating performance, Lukas was the CSASC Badminton Champion this year in Junior Boys Singles, and qualified to represent our league at GB’s.”
“Shaelyn is a Grade 11 student at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School. She was a huge asset to both our Volleyball and Basketball teams. Shae always had a smile and a positive attitude during our games. She is one of the most consistent players I have ever coached and she always came in clutch, creating and executing perfect passes, smashes or serves. She was often one of the first athletes to help set up the nets and one of the last ones in the gym to take down the equipment. She always showed her appreciation and gratitude for practices and games. Shae is one of the most coachable and talented athletes I’ve had the pleasure of working with. She also qualified for the GBSSA Badminton Championship. The ultimate all around athlete.”
