Recap of the third annual CSASC AGM

On Tuesday, June 18, the third annual Catholic School Athletics of Simcoe County Annual General Meeting convened with a sense of celebration and community spirit. This special evening brought together secondary school coaches, convenors, and administrators, from across Simcoe Muskoka Catholic, gathering to discuss sport-specific matters, and honor the dedicated individuals who enrich the lives of student-athletes throughout our school board.

The event was marked by a vibrant atmosphere as coaches exchanged insights and experiences, while our Director of Education Frances Bagley, highlighted the profound impact of athletics on student development. “It is a testament to the unwavering commitment of these coaches, who tirelessly support our student-athletes both on and off the playing surface”.

We also heard from St. Peter’s alumni, Benjamin Battaglia who spoke about his experience as a former student-athlete in our school board.  After graduating from post secondary school just a couple of weeks ago, and landing a new job as the Intramural Sports Coordinator at the University of Waterloo, he shared an amazing reflection about how both high school sports and his coaches, helped him develop many valuable skills that he continues to utilize in all aspects of his life.

A pivotal moment of the evening was the recognition of eight outstanding coaches, each acknowledged for their exceptional contributions throughout their careers. Their dedication and passion have not only elevated their respective teams but have also inspired countless young athletes to pursue excellence in sports and beyond.

Congratulations to the 2024 recipients of the Coaches Award: Karen Holmes (St. Thomas Aquinas CSS), Craig McLaughlin (Holy Trinity CHS), Julia MacNeil (Patrick Fogarty CSS), and Richard Gallant (St. Joseph’s CHS).
