Congratulations to Jake Dutton and Brooke Browne from St. Theresa’s Catholic High School for their selection as CSASC Student-Athletes of the Month for February! Here is what our teacher-coach nominators had to say about this month’s recipients:
“Jake is a multi-sport Gr. 12 Student at St. Theresa’s. He plays Football, Hockey and Track and Field. On the Football team he was an integral part of the defensive side of the team. Late in the season due to injuries, he had to step in at the last minute to play quarterback. Even though this was not a position he was comfortable playing, he showed great maturity and team play by accepting this new role. His desire to help the team out when needed showed true character. At the rink he has shown strong leadership and heart for the St. T’s squad. He is the only Gr. 12 on this year’s team and has done a great job leading by example. We appreciate Jake’s dedication to the Thunder Athletic Program!”
“Brooke Browne is an active Gr. 12 student who has excelled in several sports including Flag Football, Track, Ultimate, Badminton, and her two favourites – Basketball and Hockey. On the court she is tenacious, she anticipates, she stops players from driving to the hoop and makes things happen. She was a key piece of the Thunder Sr. Girls Basketball success this year that included a GBSSA title and a trip to the OFSAA Quarterfinals. She has also played a big role in the Girls Hockey team which over the years has included GBSSA wins and trips to OFSAA. Her coaches commend her for her dedication, coachability, intensity, composure, leadership and exceptional talent. Thanks to Brooke for all she contributes to Thunder Athletics!”
