Congratulations to Jayden Raposo and Grace Koopmans from St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School for their selection as CSASC Student-Athletes of the Month for April! Here is what our teacher-coach nominators had to say about this month’s recipients:
“Jayden is a Grade 9 student in his first year of High School Wrestling at St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School. Through hard work and dedication, Jayden managed to medal at multiple tournaments this season. His spectacular season culminated with a Gold Medal win at GBSSA’s that secured him a spot at the OFSAA provincial championships in Hamilton. He faced tough competition in a field of 32 student-athletes and made it to the second round before being eliminated by a grade 12 wrestler. The goals and expectations are high for his future success. Congratulations Jayden!”
“Grace is a Grade 12 student at St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School who showed immense determination and consistency throughout the swim season. She was a leader on the Knights Swim team encouraging and supporting her fellow teammates. Grace had tremendous success building on her races and bettering her times with each competition. In her first meet of the season, Grace competed at the University of Guelph where she had a strong performance and set season best times. At our GBSSA regional finals, Grace placed first in both her individual events which secured her place at the provincial championships. At OFSAA she swam the Senior Girls 50 m Butterfly where she placed 14th place overall in the province and the 100 m Individual Medley where she placed 16th. She swam a season best times in both of these events. Well done Grace!”
