Congratulations to William Shaw and Sophia Columbus from Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School for their selection as CSASC Student-Athletes of the Month for October! Here is what our teacher-coach nominators had to say about this month’s recipients:
“William Shaw is an exemplary young man. He always displays exceptional sportsmanship as a member of the Patrick Fogarty senior boy’s basketball team and the boy’s varsity soccer team. An honour roll student, he has also committed to play Ontario Soccer, and OBA basketball again this upcoming year. His coaches can count on William to take on any role, position or task that is needed. His consistent hard work, dedication to practice and quiet but strong leadership on the field/court will serve him well in his future endeavours. Congratulations William!”
“Excelling in the class and on the court is very familiar to Sophia Columbus. An honour roll student and MVP, Sophia has participated in Lacrosse, Softball, Basketball and Volleyball as a Patrick Fogarty student athlete. She has been an integral part of 3 GBSSA Championships in her first three years of high school. As a member of the Senior Girls volleyball team since grade 10, she participated with her team at OFSAA last year. She has also signed up to play high performance OVA volleyball this season. As a member of the Senior Girls basketball team, along with her teammates has secured one GBSSA title. She has also signed to play JUEL basketball this upcoming season. With an eye on the future, her dedication and drive, academically and athletically, continually impress her coaches and peers. Well deserved, Sophia!”
