Congratulations to Olivia Glass and Owen Srigley from St. Peter’s Catholic Secondary School for their selection as CSASC Student-Athletes of the Month for November! Here is what our teacher-coach nominators had to say about this month’s recipients:
“Olivia Glass is a grade 12 student at St. Peter’s who perfectly exemplifies the student-athlete. She excels in flag football, basketball, badminton and ultimate frisbee. In badminton last spring, she was the CSASC mixed doubles champion and had a competitive performance at GBs. Olivia is the captain of her basketball team and leads the team in scoring and rebounds this season. Anyone who chooses to hang on for a jump ball against her is in for a surprise! She is an outstanding ultimate frisbee player and took on a leadership role in a recent tournament where she did an amazing job as handler! Olivia is the defensive captain of the flag football team. She has pretty much coached the entire defensive squad. She leads all warm-ups and an instagram page to keep the team informed. Overall, she is a strong leader and positive captain that keeps everyone in the loop and in a positive mind-frame. Her leadership and integrity make her a respected figure among teammates and classmates alike. Olivia is a role model for her peers, showing that commitment to education with high academic standing and athletics can go hand in hand. Congratulations Olivia!”
“St. Peter’s would like to recognize Owen Srigley on both his academic and athletic accomplishments throughout his years at St. Peter’s. Owen is a Grade 12 student who is a talented multi-sport athlete, with several CSASC championships, GB medals, and OFSAA participation. This fall he successfully qualified for the Golf GBSSA championships, is part of the undefeated senior boys volleyball team, and this spring he will be representing the school at OFSAA Tennis in Mixed Doubles having won silver at GB’s, as well as OFSAA for Ultimate which is hosted here in Barrie. Owen is also gearing up for a repeat of a GBSSA championship with the boys hockey team as a key part of this year’s group, and attempting to defend his CSASC gold in mixed doubles for badminton. Aside from the evident athletic skills he brings to all of his sports, it is his energy and never say die attitude that propels him to another level and sets him apart from many other athletes. Congratulations Owen!”
