In September 2020, Jean Vanier Catholic High School underwent a name change and is now known as Our Lady of the Bay Catholic High School. Now that athletics are back in session, Our Lady of the Bay C.H.S. Hurricanes, proudly boast about the newly transformed gymnasium area. With new doors, a new mural, and new gym floors, the Hurricanes are reenergized and ready to compete this year!
This Fall, the Hurricanes Varsity Girls Flag Football team had tremendous success on the field. “We won both the CSASC Championship and the GBSSA A/AA Championship and are so proud of the team’s accomplishments,” commented teacher-coaches Melissa Wheatcroft and Liz Payton. Payton, a long time contributor to athletics in the Collingwood area, past member of the Georgian Bay Secondary Schools Association (GBSSA) Executive, and an integral member of the Catholic School Athletics of Simcoe County (CSASC) organization, mentioned that “the new school name, sports team name, and uniforms, have brought excitement to our school community and we wish our student-athletes the best of luck this school year!”
