Congratulations to Kenny Champ and Janell Ineh from St. Peter’s Catholic Secondary School for their selection as CSASC Student-Athletes of the Month for June! Here is what our teacher-coach nominators had to say about this month’s recipients:
“Kenny is very dedicated to his sport. He attends practice and trains outside of school regularly. He constantly sets and achieves his own goals. This track season, he won OFSAA Regionals for the Junior Boys 1500m and 3000m. Kenny set his mind on defending his double gold OFSAA medals from last year and did just that. Kenny won the OFSAA gold medal for the Junior Boys 1500m, setting a new OFSAA record of 3:55.17. He also won gold in the Junior Boys 3000m at OFSAA with a time of 8:35.21. Congratulations Kenny!”
“Janell is a very talented thrower. She competed in shot put and discus at OFSAA Regionals and placed first in both events. She set her sights on the OFSAA Championship this season to land on the podium and surpass her 4th-place shot put finish from last year. Janell accomplished this goal with a throw of 32.63m in discus to secure a bronze medal spot on the podium. She also placed 4th in shot put with a new PR of 12.40m. Congratulations Janell!”
